We grabbed the VIP pass for our Hauntnight at Lake Hickory Haunts, and it was a five-star night from start to finish. This is a massive, multi-attraction venue that expertly balances high-octane scares with phenomenal atmosphere. The professionalism and passion from the entire crew, especially the owner, shine through in every detailed scene.

Attractions & Scares

Lake Hickory Haunts offers eleven unique haunts, giving incredible value and variety. The scares were delivered by an outstanding cast, who kept the energy relentlessly high. The use of scent effects was exceptional—we have to specifically call out the Cotton Candy Room in Big Top Circus and the sweetly poisonous honey-trap of Nature’s Revenge. While some foundational elements or animatronics echoed scenes we’re familiar with, the creativity and high-quality performance of the actors made every room feel fresh and intense.

Atmosphere & Immersion

The overall atmosphere is top-tier. The facility is expansive and designed to completely immerse you in the lakeside environment. The lighting, sound, and architectural designs are used to their full potential, pulling guests into various distinct worlds, from the chaotic Big Top to the unsettling Nature’s Revenge. The midway is a vibrant scene of controlled chaos, adding to the pre-haunt excitement.

Costumes & Effects

The detail in the costumes, makeup, and scenic effects is professional and consistent across all attractions. Props and animatronics are plentiful, used effectively, and well-maintained. Crucially, the effects are fully integrated into the storytelling—not just dropped in as filler. The innovative use of scent effects really elevates the immersion, demonstrating a deeper commitment to sensory overload and setting this haunt apart.

Scareactors & Energy

The actors here are truly top-notch, highly professional, and genuinely accommodating. They are relentless, always in character, and experts at reading and engaging the crowd. Even beyond the scares, their friendly and helpful attitude throughout the venue was a huge positive, showing a committed, passionate culture that starts from the top down.

Staff & Guest Experience

The entire operation runs with remarkable efficiency and friendliness, from the parking lot to the final exit. The staff is welcoming and clearly passionate about their work. Meeting the owner in the VIP section and hearing his appreciation for the art of the haunt validated the high level of detail and professionalism we witnessed. Knowing the passion poured into the venue adds to the overall guest experience.

Logistics & Value

Pricing: General Admission was $39 for the night we attended, although we opted for the VIP.
Overall Value: The value here is exceptional when you factor in the "free" entertainment in the Ghost Town, the Midway of Mayhem, and the opportunity to add on their elite escape games. It is a full-night destination.
