Theming
★★★★★
Cupid’s Carnage goes all-in on theme, and it shows. Costumes weren’t just “holiday-adjacent” — they were insanely detailed and intentionally matched to the twisted Valentine hotel aesthetic. The tonal contrast worked in the best way possible: Rob Zombie blasting in the Midway set the energy high and dirty, then the moment you crossed into the Hellbilly Hotel, the vibe snapped into smoky speakeasy menace. That musical shift alone told you exactly what kind of night you were about to have. It wasn’t just a haunt — it was a mood change, and the hotel portion leaned fully into that darker, sultrier, more intimate horror tone.
Atmosphere
★★★★★
Dense. Claustrophobic. Constant pressure. The vibe never lets off the gas, and the lack of dead air makes this one feel more intense than some full-scale haunts. The party energy of the event carries inside, but once you’re in the hotel, it’s all business—fast, chaotic, and personal.
Set Design
★★★★★
The Hellbilly Hotel sets were intricately detailed, with standout rooms evoking classic horror and unsettling environments. Even the simpler transitional areas felt intentional and well-placed, featuring clever distractions like lighting beneath floorboards, strobe effects, sensory walls, and hanging elements that maintained immersion. Some rooms felt almost like torture chambers, heightening discomfort in a way that complemented the actors and overall intensity.

Intensity
★★★★★
Relentless. This was pressure horror—actors constantly in your bubble, flanking, pacing, cutting off exits, and popping from unexpected angles. No rest or reset moments.
Costumes
★★★★★
From devilish cupids to sultry hotel staff, the wardrobe nailed the holiday horror twist. Details like matching accessories and thematic props elevated the experience beyond standard haunt fare.
Performance
★★★★★
Absolute clinic. Actors carried the entire attraction with nonstop engagement. No reliance on animatronics—just smart positioning, timing, and personality. The separation mechanic without a touch-pass upcharge was a standout moment and led to genuinely funny and tense timing. Getting swarmed while expecting your partner to appear is peak haunt chaos. The interplay between humor and menace made the experience feel alive and unpredictable.

Crowd Control
N/A
We arrived as the last group for the night, so we didn’t experience any traditional queues. Based on what we observed, groups appear to be pulsed throughout the Hotel, creating an intentional, intimate flow.
Duration
★★★★★
16 minutes of nonstop action. Shorter than full-season Hellbilly Hollow, but every minute was packed with engagement. No filler, no downtime. The expectation of a shorter attraction was also priced accordingly, making the experience a terrific value. The unlimited option at only $5 more leans into insane value, given the unpredictable nature and playful menace of the Hellbilly and ROTN crew.
Line Management
★★★★★
Even without waiting in line ourselves, it’s clear that the pacing is carefully managed to maximize engagement and maintain suspense.

Staff Friendliness
★★★★★
Huge shoutout here. Staying open late, keeping energy high, and being welcoming made the night feel like a special event rather than a last-call run.
Amenities
N/A
We didn’t get a chance to experience concessions, merch, or other amenities during this visit, so no rating is applied.
Accessibility & Safety
★★★★★
For how aggressive the actor engagement is, everything felt controlled and intentional. The separation moment was done cleanly and safely without breaking immersion.
Critical Verdict4.3
Super Attraction Density
★★★★★
Pulling cornfield actors into the hotel effectively turned one attraction into a high-density super haunt. This is how you do an off-season or limited-run event without making it feel watered down.
Limited Scope
★★★★☆
Cupid’s Carnage exclusively uses the Hellbilly Hotel. While the cornfield sections remain closed for this event, this concentrated focus allows the haunt to overload the Hotel with actors, props, and scares. The shorter footprint leaves some curiosity about the full haunt unanswered, but the intensity and density inside the Hotel more than make up for it. Guests get a full, intentional experience without feeling shortchanged.
Destination Determination
★★★★☆
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Strong Regional.
Worth the drive from Birmingham, AL and beyond. While not the full Hellbilly Hollow seasonal lineup, the hotel-focused Valentine event delivers top-tier intensity, atmosphere, and value for regional haunt fans. A perfect reason to plan a weekend visit.

Date Night
★★★★★
Being separated without warning? Perfect Valentine chaos. This is a couple's haunt that actually plays with the relationship dynamic in a fun, memorable way.
Bang for Your Buck
★★★★★
$10 / ~16 minutes ≈ $0.63 per minute
That’s borderline robbery—in your favor.
The $15 unlimited run option is an absurd value, especially with actor density this high. With minor cast swaps, repeat runs could feel completely different.
Vibe Check
★★★★★
High-energy, party atmosphere outside. Pure chaos inside. This felt like a haunt thrown by people who love haunts for people who love haunts.
